Falls of the Ohio Interpretive Center Closes for Renovations

Clarksville, IN – The Falls of the Ohio State Park Interpretive Center will be closed for building renovations and installation of new exhibits beginningNovember 24, 2014. Once renovations are complete the Interpretive Center is expected to have a grand re-opening in the fall of 2015.

The new interactive, immersive exhibits and building renovations are the result of a $6 million fundraising campaign by The Falls of the Ohio Foundation, the nonprofit support organization for the State Park. The new exhibits have been developed in partnership with Solid Light, the Louisville-based, nationally recognized museum design company.

“We are very excited to reach this milestone of revamping the Interpretive Center during the 20th anniversary of its operation,” exclaimed Kelley Morgan, Interpretive Manager for the Falls of the Ohio State Park. The Interpretive Center opened in 1994.

Morgan stated that during the Center’s closure, instead of school field trips to the Falls being available, the Falls of the Ohio State Park Naturalists will go into the schools with their programs in the spring of 2015. There are five 45 minute educational programs for students that can be scheduled by teachers:

  • Fossil Lab: 3rd grade & above
  • Fossil Lab: Primary Grade Level (K-2)
  • Minerals and Our World: 3rd grade & above
  • Archaeology Lab: 3rd grade & above
